Commissioned by Bar Studios, I joined the camera team for Red Bull’s Man vs Bike challenge, which saw Olympic mountain biker Tom Pidcock go head-to-head with elite trail runner Tom Evans in a race to the summit of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa). Working as part of a specialist trail camera team, my role was to capture dynamic, close-up action footage while running alongside the athletes across challenging mountain terrain. Following an extensive location recce and a pre-dawn ascent to our filming positions, I captured one of the race’s key moments as Pidcock overtook Evans, tracking both athletes on foot to bring viewers right into the action. The production combined meticulous planning, technical camera skills and physical endurance to capture an unpredictable, one-take sporting challenge.
